Blair Gibson has more than 20 years of experience in the diagnostics and
pharmaceutical industries with a specialty in cardiovascular and
metabolic disease marketing. Most recently he led the global strategic planning capability for the $27B prescription business at Merck. He was responsible for the development of an overall strategic planning process and portfolio management framework for marketed brands. He was accountable for developing and analyzing a series of critical brand-performance and market metrics for maximizing return on sales-and-marketing investment. While reporting to the CMO, he also lead an integrated phase III through V clinical portfolio-management and decision-support process that enabled informed decision making regarding investment and tradeoff options for Merck's portfolio of late-stage clinical studies.
He headed the global JANUVIA marketing, promotion and launch-prep work while at Merck. Global sales for JANUVIA exceeded $1B in the second year on the market. Prior experience was gained at Aventis and Pfizer/Pharmacia. Working at Baxter Diagnostics Blair was based in Europe for six years, living and working in Paris, then in Madrid. He also lived and worked in Latin America for three years where he led the expansion of a division in the region.
He is an experienced global marketing professional who has delivered executive education workshops around the world.
A native of Washington, D.C., Blair received his BS from Marshall University. In addition to English, he speaks French and Spanish. He, his wife and three children reside in New Jersey. Blair, an avid horseman and bird watcher, is a member of the American Heart
Association.
